Why Covered California May Get More Expensive

Enrollment for Covered California - the state’s health insurance marketplace created under the Affordable Care Act - is now open. But Obamacare tax credits for the majority of recipients are at risk of expiring at the end of the year, if Congress doesn’t approve an extension. Some worry that customers will have to choose between going without healthcare or paying unaffordable premiums. Tim Sheehan is a senior reporter with The Intersection, a health equity reporting lab from the Central Valley Journalism Collaborative - a nonprofit that partners with CapRadio. He joins us with his reporting on how this could impact the San Joaquin Valley.

New Statewide e-Bike Coalition

Electric bicycles have become an increasingly common sight on the roads, as sales nationwide outpace those of electric vehicles. But increased ridership has also led to a rise in injuries, as e-bikes tend to be heavier and faster than their pedal-powered counterparts. A new statewide coalition aims to help address these dangers without compromising ridership. But at the same time, state officials have cut funding for a popular e-bike incentive program aimed at making them more affordable. CapRadio Statehouse Politics Reporter Gerardo Zavala provides an update on these latest developments.

‘100 Years of Palestine’ Exhibit

The United Nations security council voted Monday to move forward with a US-backed plan for post-war Gaza. It’s the latest development in a decades-long conflict between Israel and Palestine. An exhibit returning to Roseville this weekend aims to shed more light on the history and culture of the Palestinian people. Today on Insight, we’ll learn more about “100 Years of Palestine - An Immersive Exhibition” from Shadi Qutub. The exhibit opens Nov. 22 and runs through Nov. 25 at the Tarbiya Institute in Roseville.
